The Social Sciences Department had its humble beginnings in the year 1963 under the headship of Mrs. Irene Periyanayakam. The department has eight full time faculty and two visiting professors, hundred and thirty students, a fully equipped contemporary psychology lab and an informative library, which accommodates 1012 volumes of books encompassing all the areas in social sciences.
