OIKOS (ACADEMIC CLUB OF THE DEPARTMENT):
- Our department is also
special in having initiated its departmental, academic
club, the "OIKOS CLUB" started in the year 1971, the
first of its kind in the college.
- The purpose and objectives of
the club is to promote all round development of the
student, to make them confident and competent young
students who can pursue a career of choice, to develop
knowledge, a sense of curiosity, ability to design
methodology and to express results and display them
with creativity as depicted in the logo of the club..
- Our club continues to show
dynamic changes through the years with its radiant
group of motivated student leaders and the guiding
force behind them the staff of the department,
planning innovative programmes at the
interdepartmental and intercollegiate levels..
- Students of the club have been
divided into four houses - Darwin, Hyman, Huxley and
Pauling, named after pioneer biologists, a rolling
shield was initiated in the year 1993. Houses compete
among themselves to carry the shield during the
valedictory of the club.
